A mixture of (bromomethyl) benzene (1.3 g, 7.6 mmol) , 4-bromo-3-methyl-1H-pyrazole (1.01 g, 6.27 mmol) and potassium carbonate (2.1 g, 15 mmol) in DMF (15 mL) was stirred at 50 for 6 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (30 mL) . The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc (30 mL × 3) . The combined organic layers were washed with saturated aqueous NaCl (20 mL) , dried over anhydrous Na2SO4and concentrated in vacuo.
