A mixture of 5,6-diamino-l-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-3,3-dimethyl-l,3-dihydro-indol-2- one (210mg, 0.842mmol), 5-methyl-lH-pyrazole-3-carbaldehyde (prepared according to Tetrahedron 1995, 51(16), 4779-800; 93mg, 0.842mmol) and sulfur (29.7mg, 0.926mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) (6ml) was heated at1600C for 65 minutes. After cooling to room temperature the reaction mixture was poured into water (40ml). After stirring for 60 minutes at 00C the precipitate was filtered off, washed with water and dissolved in ethyl acetate. The aqueous mother liquid was extracted with ethyl acetate and the combined organic phases were dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure und the residue dried in vacuo to yield 186mg 5-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-7,7-dimethyl-2-(5- methyl-lH-pyrazol-3-yl)-5,7-dihydro-3H-imidazo[4,5-f] indol-6-one (65%). MS: M = 340.2 (ESI+)
