To a stirred solution of 3-nitro-lH-pyrazole 94 (5.0 g, 44.24 mmol) in acetonitrile (50 mL) was added K2CO3 (12 g, 88.49 mmol) followed by 2-bromoethan-l-ol (5.4 g, 44.24 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at 90 C for 16 h.
