5-Ethoxy-1,2,3-triazine is mono- and dilithiated and the resulting 4-lithio- and 4,6-dilithio-1,2,3-triazines, were reacted with aromatic aldehydes to give α-hydroxybenzylated derivatives The latter are oxidized to give benzoyl-1,2,3-triazines.
