N-[6-carboxy-2,4-bis(methoxycarbonyl)phenyl]-DL-serinolactone (I) was treated with CH2N2 to form a pyrazoline which was converted to the corresponding cyclopropane derivative by elimination of N. The structures of the pyrazoline and cyclopropane derivatives were confirmed by degradation and synthesis.
