Monitoring substrate conversion as a function of time revealed an induction period of 90 min, which could be eliminated through the initial in situ formation of the proposed [(L01)Cu-OH] intermediate. Eliminating the induction period resulted in complete conversion within one hour, with turnover numbers exceeding that of the benchmark catalyst system operating at an optimal catalyst loading of 0.05 mol %.

This study provides a phenomenological method to describe the exponential growth, saturation, and decay of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) deaths and infections via a Monte Carlo approach. The calculations connect Gompertz-type trial distributions of infected people per day with the distribution of deaths adopting two gamma distributions to account for the elapsed time that encompass the incubation and symptom onset to death periods. The analyses include death data from the USA, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom (UK), India, and Russia, which comprise the four countries with the highest number of deaths and the four countries with the highest number of confirmed cases, as of August 07, 2020, according to theWorld Health Organization webpage. The Gompertz functions were fitted to the data of weekly averaged confirmed deaths per day by mapping the chi(2) values. The uncertainties, variances, and covariances of the model parameters were calculated by propagation, taking into account the standard errors of the data for each epidemiological week. The fitted functions for the average deaths per day for the USA and India have an upward trend, with the former having a higher growth rate and quite huge uncertainties. For Mexico, the UK, and Russia, the fits are consistent with a downward-sloping pattern. For Brazil we found a subtle trend down but with significant uncertainties. The USA, UK, and India data showed first peaks with higher growth rates compared with the second ones (4.2, 2.2, and 3.5 times higher, respectively), demonstrating the benefits of nonpharmacological interventions of sanitary measures and social distance flattening the secondary peaks of the pandemic. For the case of the USA, however, a third peak seems quite plausible, most likely related with the recent relaxation policies. Brazil’s data are satisfactorily described by two highly overlapped Gompertz functions with similar growth rates, suggesting a two-step process for the pandemic spreading. For the cases of Mexico and Russia single peaks with smoother slopes fitted the data satisfactorily. The 95% confidence intervals for the total number of deaths (x10(3)) predicted by the model for August 31, 2020, are 160 to 220, 110 to 130, 59 to 62, 41.3 to 41.4, 54 to 63, and 16.0 to 16.7 for the USA, Brazil, Mexico, the UK, India, and Russia, respectively. Our estimates for the point prevalences of infections are compared with some preliminary data from serological studies and/or model calculations focused on the USA, Brazil, and UK scenarios. The point prevalences and 95% confidence intervals for August 1, 2020, were estimated to be 5.7 (3.9-7.5)%, 8.9 (7.4-10.3)%, 9.3 (8.3-10.3)%, 5.7 (4.5-6.9)%, 0.9 (0.8-1.0%), and 1.2 (1.0-1.3)% for the USA, Brazil, Mexico, the UK, India, and Russia, respectively. The method represents an effective few-parameter framework to estimate the line shape of the infection curves and the uncertainties of the relevant parameters based on the actual death data of a pandemic.

Here in, the effects of FeSiAl particle size on the dielectric and microwave absorption properties of FeSiAl/Al2O3 composites were studied. FeSiAl/Al2O3 composites containing 18-25 mu m, 25-48 mu m, and 48-75 mu m FeSiAl particles were prepared by hot-pressed sintering based on uniformly mixed FeSiAl and Al2O3 powders. Results show that the real permittivity and the imaginary permittivity are significantly promoted with increasing FeSiAl particle size, which is ascribed to the enhanced interfacial polarization and conductance loss. In addition, the favorable matching impedance and suitable attenuation coefficient enabled the composite containing 25-48 mu m FeSiAl powder to show a minimum reflection loss of -34.4 dB at 11.7 GHz and an effective absorption bandwidth (<-10 dB) of 1.4 GHz in 11.0-12.4 GHz, when the thickness is 1.1 mm. By adjusting the thickness to 1.4 mm, the effective absorption bandwidth of the composite reaches a maximum value of 2.0 GHz in the 8.3-10.3 GHz range, indicating tunable, strong, and highly efficient microwave absorption performance. Cattle manure is a kind of abundant agriculture waste but potential renewable resource to be converted into fuel by pyrolysis. The pyrolysis behavior of cattle manure was analyzed by three methods in this work: thermogravimetric analyzer (TG), pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) and pyrolysis photoionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Py-PI-TOFMS). The pyrolysis process of cattle manure included four stages, dehydration stage, lignocellulose decomposition stage, lignin and protein decomposition stage, char and mineral matter decomposition stage. The products were mainly classified into six groups: ketones, aldehydes, phenolic compounds, acids, hydrocarbons and N-containing compounds. Based on the time-evolved profiles and temperature-programmed profiles, the characteristics of these major products were analyzed and discussed. Maillard reaction has great effects on the pyrolysis process of cattle manure because cellulose can easily react with protein to produce abundant Amadori products and then generate cyclopentanes and furanmethanol. In addition, some Amadori products and amino acids can also be cyclized to generate N-heterocycle compounds like pyrroles and pyrazines. The decomposition of lignin basic units with more methoxy groups require higher reaction temperature, and the removal of hydroxy and methoxy group on phenols mainly occurred at around 350 degrees C. Furthermore, primary decomposition pathways of cattle manure were also proposed and discussed.

A visible-light photoredox catalyzed C-N coupling of quinoxaline-2(1H)-ones with azoles in the absence of external photosensitizer has been developed. The protocol employs commercially available pyrazoles and triazoles as amination reagents and shows wide substrate scope, providing the corresponding C3-position amination products in good yields and high regioselectivity under ambient conditions. Investigations indicate that the starting materials and products can act as photosensitizers avoiding use of additional photocatalyst in an autocatalytic manner. In addition,(1)O(2)coexists with O(2)(.-)from molecular oxygen (O-3(2)) via an energy transfer (ET) and single electron transfer (SET) process during the reaction.

Tetrakis(1H-pyrazol-l-yl)methanes are very rare compounds of which only two are known: the unsubstituted 1 obtained classically by Wicket in 1937 from carbon tetrachloride and prepared again several times and the 3,5-dimethyl substituted 2 obtained serendipitously by Pombeiro in 2009. We have now extended this group to include four new derivatives 8, 9,11 and 12 bearing methyl groups. The X-ray crystal structure of the four compounds has been determined. They have been studied by NMR both in solution (H-1, C-13, N-15) and in the solid state (C-13 and N-15). A new semi-theoretical equation is suggested for correlation of solid-liquid solubility data with temperature. The (solid + liquid) equilibrium for Terephthaldialdehyde, 4-Nitro-o-phennylenediamine, 2,4-dihydro- 5-methyl-2(4-methylphenyl)-3H-pyrazol-3-one (also named 1-(p-toly1)-3-methyl-5pyrazolone (PTMP)), 2-Amino-5-methylthiazole and 5-chloro-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole in 18 solvents is correlated with semi-empirical models at temperatures T = 273.15 – 318.15 K under a pressure of 101.2 kPa. Moreover, a modified Apelblat model, lambda h model, Wilson model, NRTL model, new flexible equation as Akbari, Dideban and Farhang model (ADF) and for first time the modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation were utilized to calculate the experiment values. The performance of both ADF and modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation have been checked by calculating the solubility data with the AARD% of 1.3808% (for 775 data points) and 0.65% (for 100 data points), respectively. The Wilson model is applied to estimate the mixing Gibbs energy, mixing enthalpy, mixing entropy, activity coefficient (ln gamma(infinity)(1)) and reduced excess enthalpy (H-I(E,infinity)) at infinitesimal concentration were calculated.

In the title bicyclic trinuclear pyrazolate aminoalcohol complex, [Cu-3(C5H7N2)(2)-(C6H14NO3)(2)]Br-2 center dot 1.5H(2)O, the central Cu atom lies on a center of symmetry and is involved in the formation of two five-membered rings. It has a coordination number of 4, is in a distorted tetrahedral environment and is connected by the bridging oxygen atoms of the deprotonated OH groups of different aminoalcohol groups, and by the N atoms of deprotonated dimethylpyrazole ligands. The peripheral Cu atom is in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment formed by the nitrogen atom of the deprotonated bridging dimethylpyrazole unit, the bridging oxygen atom of the deprotonated OH group, two oxygen atoms of the protonated hydroxy groups and the nitrogen atom of triethanolamine. One of the C atoms and the Br- anion were found to be disordered over two positions with occupancy factors of 0.808 (9):0.192 (9) and 0.922 (3):0.078 (3), respectively.
