To a solution of 2,4-dichloro-7-methoxyisoquinolin (0.54 g, 2.36 mmol) in DMF (5 ml) was added Cs2CO3 (1.54 g, 4.74 mmol) followed by 3-isopropyl-1H-pyrazole (0.78 g, 7.10 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to 80 C. for 18 h. The reaction mass was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and then concentrated under reduced pressure to get crude compound.
